Style advice for flat hair

Dear Hair Doctor,

My hair is very short and layered. To be honest it suits my face shape better than trying to grow it. I have a small chin and high cheek bones. I also have a double crown so that is a problem too. My hair always goes flat at the back, giving my head an unflattering shape to it. Can you please help. I recently bought a copper peptide thickening spray which helps a bit. Other thickening products just make my hair crispy!

Hi,

I’m not sure how short your hair is at the moment, but if you want to achieve maximum volume and prevent your hair from going flat at the back, I would suggest you wear your hair in a short crop with lots of texture. For inspiration think Emma Watson who is a great example of how to sport a pixie cut! This will not only help to add thickness to the length, but also disguise your double crown and create volume.

With products that you have tried previously, if they are not working it is most likely to be because you are using them incorrectly or they are not suited to your hair type. To ensure that they are perfect for your hair, I’d recommend that you visit your stylist who will be able to suggest the type of products you should be using at home and also how to use them correctly.

A great product to provide extreme root lift and body, whilst leaving hair soft and touchable without any stickiness, is Matrix Total Results Amplify Wonder Boost Root Lifter. To use, simply apply on damp hair by spraying close to the scalp or all over, before styling as usual to leave you rocking the perfect pixie crop that’s full of volume!
