Project X Day with Industry Expert Zoe Irwin

On Monday 1st February the Project X team of 12 students were lucky enough to spend the day with industry expert Zoe Irwin at ghd Studios in London. Ashleigh started the day with an introduction into the year ahead for the individuals, as well as offering a chance for everyone to get to know each other with their own professional and personal stories.

Project X was established with the direct input from industry expert Zoe Irwin, and following introductions, she joined the Team to provide an insight into inspirations, trends and styling hair.

The Team were captivated by her journey and the stories of her amazing career, and it was fascinating to hear what inspires her along the way. Zoe really conveyed the importance of mood boards and where to take inspiration from, an area which is particularly relevant to the Team as they embark on their Project X journey.

During the afternoon Zoe demonstrated two looks to the team, who were in awe of her array of expertise and skills, including both Japanese culture and simple blow-drying techniques. She also took the time to convey what makes a great kit, and items that should not be missed, an area that will really benefit the team throughout the year. It was then an opportunity for everyone to present their mood boards they had been prepared in advance, and Zoe was able to develop their knowledge in how to improve areas that would assist them in showcasing their ideas in the future. The day ended with Zoe’s upcoming trend predications, a real insight into the development of the industry and aspects to consider in their own work.
