Every time I apply heat to coloured grey hair it leaves a yellow strip

You are here

Every time I colour a client’s hair grey/silver using TIGI Copyright Colour, once the hair is under the heat or being straightened/curled, the colour instantly removes leaving a yellow strip.

Why is this happening and how can I prevent it from occurring in the future?

Thank you,

Louise, Glasgow

Unfortunately I have never worked with the TIGI colour range as I use Wella, but have you tried phoning their customer care line? Maybe try leaving the colour on to develop longer? Do you use a colour post-treatment to lock the colour in after it’s rinsed off? Do you use a heat protector on the hair before using irons etc?

With the Wella Instamatic range, they do not fade when heat is applied, but like all pastel tones they do fade. I would definitely contact the manufacturer first!

Hi Louise,

As we are not familiar with TIGI Copyright colours, we would advise you to contact the TIGI advice line and speak to them. We find our manufacturers extremely helpful with any colour issues that may occur.

There could be various reasons why this is happening and I am sure they will offer advice/training.

We hope you resolve your issues and have successful results in the future.
