I'm trying to get to my natural brown colour but every time I dye it, it fades to a ginger tone?

Hello,

I have been trying to get back to my natural light brown hair colour. However, I still have not been able to achieve this!

Every time I go to the salon I have it coloured the closest they can get to my natural colour, but every time it fades to a gingery golden tone which I don't want as my roots become very noticeable.

I use colour protect shampoo and conditioner as well. I now don't have enough money to go to the salon as I'm only in my teens and I don't want to risk damage to my hair! I was thinking of getting a home-dye instead in the hope that it doesn't fade as I am desperate for my natural colour back.

What do you think, and what would you recommend?

Thank you :)

If the salon you go to is continually colouring your hair with a permanent colour  with a colour, then the orange colour you keep seeing is always going to be exposed after so many weeks due to natural fade.

The only option is to use a semi-permanent colour in a shade that is close to your natural or even a shade that is the same level but with an ashen reflect (so to neutralise any unwanted warmth as much as possible). I don't really think that home hair dyes are reliable and you don't have as much choice in shades. I would strongly recommend you visit your salon and enquire whether they use these semi-permanent colours.

If you have the patience then maybe growing it out and have regular trims to get rid of as much colour as possible is an option.
