Last night was one to remember for the HOB Salons group as they scooped two of the biggest awards of the night at the hairdressing Oscars – the British Hairdressing Awards 2013!
The highly anticipated annual event saw HOB Salons General Manager Sean Dawson crowned with the prestigious London Hairdresser of the Year accolade, and if that wasn’t enough, the 24 salon group’s celebrations continued as International Creative Director Akin Konizi stole the show, taking back his esteemed British Hairdresser of the Year Award for an astonishing fourth time!
Following a delicious three course meal, the awards ceremony got underway and it wasn’t long before HOB Salons’ General Manager and UK Ambassador for Sebastian Professional, Sean Dawson was announced as London Hairdresser of the Year 2013. Beating off stiff competition against five top stylists within this much sought-after category, Sean, who was totally overwhelmed by his win, said,
I will never forget tonight! I am so proud to have won this award, it means so much to me and I am thankful to everyone who helped me achieve this.
Also a monumental evening for Akin, his win sees him become only the second person to ever accomplish four wins of the esteemed British Hairdresser of the Year trophy in the history of the acclaimed British Hairdressing Awards, cementing his position as one of hairdressings greatest.
Held in the glamorous Grosvenor House Hotel, a JW Marriott Hotel in London’s Park Lane, the British Hairdressing Awards, now in its 29th year, recognizes and celebrates the creativity of the inspirational British hairdressing industry. The awards, presented by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, was compered by media personality David Walliams with entertainment provided by chart topping Stooshe - where 1,700 guests from the world of hairdressing, fashion and media mingled at the prestigious event.
Acknowledged as a cutting genius, Akin is one of three Company Directors behind HOB Salons, a group of 24 successful salons located throughout London, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Leeds. Based at the company’s flagship branch in London’s Camden Town, Akin’s trademark precision cutting techniques epitomise the HOB brand and his natural ability to translate hair trends into fashion-led, beautiful styles has given Akin a loyal following amongst other hairdressers, journalists, clients and celebrities such as pop princess Pixie Lott. Speaking of his win Akin said,
I couldn’t believe it when my name was called out, I was overwhelmed and delighted – winning the title for a fourth time is incredible and with Sean securing London, it has been an amazing night for us. What a fantastic way to end 2013!
Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr added,
Each year the standard of entries sets the benchmark for the rest of the hairdressing industry to follow, and the winners this year demonstrate an absolute commitment to their craft. British hairdressing is perceived throughout the world as being the best, and the British Hairdressing Awards recognise and reward creativity and excellence in all hairdressing skills. Akin, Sean and the whole HOB Salons team should be very proud of winning these awards.
