HOB reign again as the Best of British with a hat-trick win

There were celebrations amongst the HOB Salons team at the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards last night, where they enjoyed a hat-trick win for a record-breaking third year, seeing the group’s International Creative Director, Akin Konizi, awarded the ultimate title of British Hairdresser of the Year for an astonishing third time.

It was a night London-based hair group HOB Salons will not forget with the HOB Creative Team taking the first award as the Artistic Team of the Year, closely followed by Christel Lundqvist picking up British Colour Technician of the Year, marking both third time wins for the group seeing them enter the BHA Hall of Fame. It wasn’t long before the whole team were on their feet again standing up to applaud Akin winning the final award of the night for British Hairdresser of the Year and taking not only his own hat-trick but the hat-trick of the night for the HOB Salons group.

Held in the spectacular Great Room at the Grosvenor House in London’s Park Lane on Monday 28th November, the British Hairdressing Awards, presented by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, entered its 27th year. Dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing world, the evening was compered by presenter and radio personality Jonathan Ross to an audience of over 1750 guests from the world of hairdressing, fashion and media.

Recognising and rewarding the creativity of the British hairdressing industry, Akin Konizi stole the show, taking back his esteemed British Hairdresser of the Year Award, seeing him reign this category for a third time and cementing his position as one of the hairdressing greats.

Acknowledged as a cutting genius, Akin is one of three Company Directors behind HOB, a group of 23 successful salons located throughout London, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Essex and Leeds. Based himself at the company’s flagship branch in London’s Camden Town, his trademark precision cutting techniques epitomise the HOB brand and his natural ability to translate hair trends into fashion-led, beautiful styles has given Akin a loyal following amongst other hairdressers, journalists, clients and celebrities such as chart-topper Pixie Lott.

Creative Colour Director and HOB Academy Educator, Christel Lundqvist beat off stiff competition to win Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year for a third time, whilst the HOB Creative Team followed suit and were elated to be crowned the Artistic Team of the Year for their third year also.

Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr commented,

Each year the quality of the entries in each and every category is phenomenal and the creativity is inspirational. British hairdressing is recognised throughout the world as being the best, and the British Hairdressing Awards recognise and reward creativity and excellence in all hairdressing skills. Akin Konizi, Christel Lundqvist and the HOB Creative Team should be very proud to have won this award.

After receiving the ultimate award of the night, Akin Konizi exclaimed,

I was thrilled to win not only the British Hairdresser of the Year award but also the Artistic Team of the Year and Colour award, all for a third time! Words cannot describe how proud HOB Salons are to be recognised as the best in Britain and we look forward to flying the flag for British hairdressing over the next year. Thank you to everyone for their amazing support!
