Amber Le Bon Donates 7" of Hair to Little Princess Trust through ghd 'Chop to Your Chin' Campaign

Throughout September and October 2017, ghd and the Little Princess Trust, with the help of ghd’s army of stylists and devoted fans, are encouraging people with long hair to proudly chop to their chin and then donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust; a charity supplying real hair wigs free of charge to children across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

In celebration of the campaign, September 21st has been named ‘Chop to Your Chin Day’ and to raise awareness Amber Le Bon proudly chopped off 7” of her locks for the charity.

Amber says:

My hair will grow back and it is going to kids whose hair isn’t growing right now. If I make one kid smile by adding to a wig that they are wearing then that makes me so happy.

Q&A with Amber Le Bon…

What made you decide to chop off 7inches of hair for the ghd and Little Princess Trust ‘Chop to Your Chin’ campaign?

I really love what Little Princess Trust does; it’s a charity that makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair. The confidence that it gives to kids is priceless. My hair will grow back and it is going to kids whose hair isn’t growing right now. If I make one kid smile by adding to a wig that they are wearing then that makes me so happy. About two years ago my sister donated nearly 2 feet of hair to this charity – also - she was able to sit on her hair before having it cut!

Your hair is always so gorgeous and shiny! What are your top hair tips for keeping your hair looking fabulous?

I leave my hair for as long as I can before washing it; usually I wash it every four days. I use a strengthening shampoo and conditioner to maintain the strength of my hair. And I think it is very important to use anti-snap serums if your hair has been bleached. Also, always use good quality tools like ghd. I use the ghd Air Pink Blush Hairdryer (£99) which is great. And I just generally take care with my hair. I’m always gentle with it; I don’t use high temperatures when heat styling and I never brush vigorously.

You’re known for your long hair, have you had short hair before? What do you think of your new hair transformation?

My hair has never been as short as this in my adult life! I’ve had it a couple of inches longer than this, but never this short. I really enjoy it and I don’t think it’s too different. I’m not worried about it because my hair grows. It's fun, it feels bouncy and it’s nice to have a change and do something different.

What would you say to someone who is considering a drastic haircut to donate hair to Little Princess Trust but is scared to commit to it?

I would say; hair grows! And if you don’t like it, it will grow back! It’s an amazing charity and it makes kids smile; which I think is a good thing in this world.
