Monday night saw the winners of HJ’s 30th British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, announced in style, with Brent Barlow and Rosie Binns of Ethos Hairdressing leading the way by becoming the 2014 North Western Hairdresser of the Year.

Set in the luxurious Great Room of the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane, the brightest event in the hairdressing calendar was not a night to be missed. For Brent Barlow and Rosie Binns, it was a defining moment in their professional life when their names were announced as the North Western Hairdresser of the Year 2014 by much loved television personality, James Corden.

Invited to join James and Executive Director of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr on stage to collect the award, Rosie said,

We were so excited to even have made it as finalists in the North West and can’t believe we won! It’s the first time we’ve entered the awards and it feels amazing to have been crowned winners.

Brent added,

To be able to say we’re following in the footsteps of Ethos directors Sharon Peake and Adam Bryant who have won so many awards here, feels incredible!

The black-tie award ceremony, which saw the audience entertained by pop sensation Union J, brings together the hairdressing industry to celebrate the best of British creativity. Each year professionals from all over the UK showcase their skills and love for their craft in photographic entries. There are nine regional categories covering all areas of the UK and six specialist categories that recognise the skills required in specific disciplines.

Executive Director, Jayne Lewis Orr said,

British hairdressers are internationally renowned for their creativity, originality and innovation, and we are proud that the British Hairdressing Awards continue to celebrate this. It has been inspiring on this special anniversary to see the standard of entries in all categories exceeding high expectations. Congratulations to Brent Barlow and Rosie Binns and all the 2014 winners who truly are the best of British.
