ClubStar Art Team Learn Men’s Skills from Jonathan Andrew

Share

Education is at the heart of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, with countless mentors generously donating their time to support others in the industry through ongoing skill development and training.

Nowhere is this perhaps more important than with emerging talent, which is precisely what the ClubStar Art Team provides – education and opportunities for those aged 16-25. Jonathan Andrew was the latest mentor to give up his time for the team, sharing men’s hairdressing techniques – with cutting, styling and shooting demos.

The day started with an inspirational talk from Jonathan, sharing his career journey to date and advice on what has shaped him as a hairdresser and how to get to the point in your career you want to be at. Next, it was time to get hands on with two live cutting and styling demos on models. Crucially, Jonathan showed the team how to create multiple looks on a single model for a photoshoot, and how to create strong, striking shots for social media. Team member, Jack Anthony said:

Jonathan taught us so much, but I found the best thing I took away from the day was that you don’t need a big expensive photoshoot to create some great looks and get some brilliant content for social media.

Sam Arnold agrees, adding:

Jonathan showed us how to create cohesive men’s look, and shot an awards-worthy collection just on his phone with two models. I learnt so much and am now feeling much more confident in creating looks on the same model, seeing how it looks on camera and using different tools and products to create the best results possible.
