Colour Project Thinks Outside the Box

Share

Grace Dalgleish and Marlon Hawkins from Brooks and Brooks made experimentation order of the day for the Fellowship’s Colour Project.

Inspiration can be found anywhere and that’s perhaps never more true than when it comes to the artistry of colourists. It was with this in mind that Grace Dalgleish and Marlon Hawkins from Brooks and Brooks set out inspiring the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Colour Project, during a fun, hands-on mentoring session.

The theme for the day was thinking outside the box; something which was brought to life when the Colour Project Team was split into three groups and each presented with a box. Each box contained various objects to fire the imagination, and the teams were tasked with coming up with ideas for a colour and technique inspired by the contents.

From here, the teams had to create a mood board expressing their ideas, before producing wefts showcasing the colour they had been inspired to create. It wasn’t just the Colour Project who were challenged; Grace and Marlon also presented each other with boxes full of random contents, from which they both created unique techniques for two finished colour looks on their own models.

Lea Shaw from Rural Fringe Hair says:

The way they come up with the ideas for collections and work in general, thinking away from hairdressing and typical hair tools, allows them to create beautiful, truly unique results. Being made to use our imagination in a new way was amazing. I loved seeing the finished result of our work from where it started, with just a box of random bits!
