Davines World Wide Hair Tour 2019

Share

After years of captivating urban centres such as Paris, Los Angeles and London, the Davines community came together in one of the most evocative locations in the world; somewhere you can feel the power of nature and experience the close relationship between humans and their planet: Iceland, which is renowned as a magical place of spectacular glaciers, geysers and infinite stretches of rocky landscape.

The WWHT is an opportunity to meet creative hairstylists, exchange trends, ideas and projects as part of an event dedicated to beauty, and to share the values of respecting nature. After the incredible 2018 event in Parma, Italy, which saw the official opening of the new brand headquarters, Davines Village, the World Wide Hair Tour headed for the Icelandic capital! Reykjavik, the capital of the land of ice and the most northerly city in the world, was chosen as the location of the World Wide Hair Tour 2019. During the event, Davines stylists from all over the world presented their creations on stage to share the latest looks and teach others how to create them. The World Style Contest took place as part of the event, offering gifted stylists a chance to interpret their own style and obtain international recognition as finalists selected from all over the world.

Hitting the international hairstylist stage were the Allilon team with Davines’ Artistic Director, Angelo Seminara, Isaac Salido, Anna Pacitto, Michael Polsinelli and, for the first time with Davines, the Brockmanns. These hair masters also shared the limelight during the two days of the show with the talented hairstylists of the World Style Contest, who were given the chance to interpret their own style and enjoy international recognition, competing against other finalists selected from all over the world.

Day one focused around Isaac Salido, the World Style Contest winner from last year’s WWHT, Annie Ankervik and Allilon. On day two the World Style Contest happened and the following winners were announced:

  • Mirela Moko - Italy, Best Overall Stylist
  • Irina Mishina - Russia, Best Colour Award
  • Sting - Taiwan, Best Cut Award

There were also shows from Michael Polsinelli, Anna Pacitto, Brockmann and Angelo Seminara. Two days brimming with emotion and the spirit of sharing, in pure Davines style – but that is not all. In strict adherence to the values of the brand, the WWHT event focussed particularly on the environment, with all 1,300 guests taking part in a local reforestation project to offset the carbon footprint of their journey. The project’s objective is to recuperate the soil, protect the city from extreme atmospheric events, restore the area for use by local people and support the national climate policies developed in line with the Paris agreements. This reforestation project has been made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Icelandic Conservation Service (SCSI), the Ministry of Natural and Environmental Resources and the Icelandic Forestry Service (IFS). With each guest planting their own tree, taking the total number to 1,300, they participated in a 20-year project that will save 1.7 million tonnes of CO2, cutting an average of 33,000 tonnes of emissions per year. One of the key advantages was the creation of natural habitat suitable for attracting native wildlife and the redistribution of precipitation to promote equilibrium of the water system in the area: a virtuous circle helping restore the natural balance that only the correct ratio between soil and forested land can restore.
