Ego Hair Design has won the Hair and Beauty Retailer category in the Scottish Independent Retail Awards, held at the Marriott hotel in Glasgow’s city centre on 13th October. The event recognised the best Independent Retailers in the country and over 4000 votes were received from all over Scotland!

Irfan Younis, Director for the event organisers Creative Oceanic, said:

Tonight was a fantastic success; we had a great turn out and everyone had a fun time. Both the winners and nominees are excellent examples of the wonderful range of independent retailers we have in this country. I truly believe Scotland has some of the best retailers in the world and that is something we should celebrate.

The title sponsor for the event was United Wholesale Scotland. Asim Sarwar, director of the company said:

I’m very proud to be associated with this event. The foundation of my business is working with small independent retailers to help them succeed, so I’m very pleased to be able to recognise the achievements of those who particularly excel.

Caroline Sanderson, of Ego Hair Design, accepted the award saying:

It’s a great honour to be recognised as a successful and growing business in this category; I’m overwhelmed!

This is the third Scottish Award the salon has won in 2011.

The event also raised money and awareness for its charity partner, The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. The Hospice, which recently announced plans to build a new multi-million pound facility in Glasgow, is located in the city centre and provides care and support for patients and their families.

Entertainment for the night was provided by The Scottish Rockettes - the official dancers for Glasgow’s own basketball team The Glasgow Rocks. The Rockettes have previously performed at Scottish International Football games and the Scottish Parliament.
