F.A.M.E. Team Head Backstage at London Fashion Week

Share

One of the most exciting parts of being part of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s F.A.M.E. Team is getting involved in diverse opportunities, both within the industry and in the wider world of fashion and beauty.

The 2019 F.A.M.E. Team have got their year off to a flying start, after spending their second session assisting team leader, Nick Irwin, backstage at London Fashion Week.

All four members of the team joined Nick at the Paula Knorr show, which took place at the BFC Show Space. Working alongside Nick’s usual assistants, they created catwalk-ready looks for 12 models; each with their own individual style. The show was sponsored by Anti Collective products, the brand for which Nick is Global Creative Director.

The look is inspired by Studio 54, but it’s not a literal translation – it’s very modern and not retro. I wanted to channel the era, while still respecting each of the models’ specific hair texture. That meant it was a different look for each girl, but with the same feeling of an irregular, imperfect wave on each of them. - Nick Irwin

The team worked tirelessly backstage on the look, using Anti’s Shine Spray, Texture Spray and Finishing Cream, as well as wide waving tongs to create a ‘buckle’ in the hair.

Reflecting on the experience, Alastair Jubbs from VAE Hair said:

Working with Nick on London Fashion Week was a real insight into how to approach a brief. I loved working with the team creating stunning, individual looks for each model. It was really great working to such a high standard and seeing how the smallest details make such a difference. The collection was presented with a live DJ and an amazing metallic backdrop which gave it such a cool energy.
