The Afro Image Award is open to any hairdresser who produces beautiful textured hair. The image should be a professional photo shot in a studio setting, but due to disruption this year, the image can be from your portfolio from any time.
To enter, you need to upload three images, tag in @fellowshiphair and use the hashtag #fellowshipafro21
Chancellor Ashleigh Hodges, explains:
Our industry is incredibly diverse, and we wanted to recognise all hairdressers, all skills and talent, so introducing our Afro Image Award was a natural step to take in 2021. There are some incredibly talented hairdressers who specialise in textured hair and are looking forward to seeing all the images entered on social media.
The Afro Image Award joins the other categories in the Fellowship Awards: Snapshot Award, Men’s Image Award, and Colour Image Award. These are now all launched, with the closing date of 3rd September.
Fellowship Image Award launches in June. The finalists and winners will be announced at the annual Fellowship Awards in December.
Criteria for 2021
Snapshot Image
The Snapshot Image is now in its fourth year and is for any non-professional hair image - photos of salon work, show looks, or any other creation produced outside of a photo studio. Considering the lockdowns and lack of opportunity to get creative in 2020, the Snapshot Image is open to any work from entrants’ back catalogues – as long as it’s not from a professional photoshoot, it can be entered. Tag @fellowshiphair on Instagram and use the hashtag #fellowshipsnapshot21
Men’s Image
The Men’s Image is a celebration of all things barbering and men’s hairdressing. It should be a professional image shot in a studio setting – due to 2020 restrictions, Men’s Image Award is open to any work from the entrants back catalogue. Upload three images to Instagram. Tag @fellowshiphair on Instagram and use the hashtag #fellowshipmens21
Colour Image
The Colour Image invites entrants to be as bright and bold or natural and beautiful as they want to be. It should be a professional image shot in a studio setting – due to 2020 restrictions, Colour Image Award is open to any work from the entrants back catalogue. Upload three images to Instagram. Tag @fellowshiphair on Instagram and use the hashtag #fellowshipcolour21
Afro Image
New for 2021, Afro Image is for those who specialise and create beautiful textured hair. It should be a professional image shot in a studio setting – due to 2020 restrictions, Afro Image is open to any work from the entrants back catalogue. Simply upload three images to Instagram.
