Fellowship Image Awards – Enter Now!

Every year, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing celebrates the creativity and craft of its members with the Image Awards. This competition allows hairdressers from across the country to showcase what they can do, with no limitations on style or type of image, and an incredibly accessible entry process.

For 2020, the competitions are back – but to acknowledge the challenging circumstances of the last few months, some positive changes have been made to keep the awards fresh, relevant, and more accessible to more people than ever. There are new categories too, to celebrate the best in colour and men’s work and truly recognise the wealth of talent across all areas of hairdressing.

All categories can be entered directly through Instagram, making it quick and simple to enter.

This year, the categories are as follows:

  • The Lockdown Look: a one-off category for 2020, giving members the opportunity to show off the work they created in lockdown on a mannequin head, family member – or whoever else they were stuck at home with! To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshiplockdownlook⁠
  • The Snapshot Competition: back for its second year, this category is for any non-professional image of hair – looks created for live shows, clients, or any other non-studio work. ⁠Owing to the lack of live events this year, any previous work can be entered for this category. To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipsnapshot20
  • The Image of the Year: this category is for professional photoshoots. Members can submit three images, of any type of hair, created any time and shot professionally. It is OK if they have been entered in any other competition. To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipimage20
  • The Colour Image of the Year: a brand-new category for professional photoshoots with a focus on colour. Members can submit three images, of any type of hair, created any time and shot professionally. It is OK if they have been entered in any other competition. To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipcolourimage20.
  • Men’s Image of the Year: another new category, this time for professional photoshoots with a focus on men's hair. Members can submit three images, of any type of hair, created any time and shot professionally. It is OK if they have been entered in any other competition. To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipmensimage20.

The closing date for entries in all categories is 5pm, Friday 30th October 2020.

Our Image Awards are a huge success every year and serve as a reminder of the sheer level of talent both within our membership and the British hairdressing industry in general. To keep the competition progressive and to make it accessible after what has been a challenging few months, we are proud that it remains easy to enter and that entrants can use their existing shots – including those taken on their phones at home during lockdown in the Lockdown Look category! With this, the Snapshot Image, Men’s Image, Colour Image and our Fellowship Image of the Year, all categories are covered so that any member can get involved and compete against their peers. We can’t wait to see what everyone enters!
