G&E McIntyres in Northampton is thriving as it sweeps the board with a host of finalist spots in HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2020.

Even in the face of adversity this year, hair salon G&E McIntyres has not only weathered the storm but has been recognised as a finalist in no less than three categories in HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards.

G&E McIntyres has secured a finalist place in the following categories:

  • Customer Service Award sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional
  • Salon of the Year 2 sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel
  • Salon Stylist of the Year sponsored by JOICO

The Customer Service award recognises salons that create an outstanding customer journey. G&E McIntyres earned this top industry badge of honour thanks to its brilliant way of meeting client needs, evaluating working methods, and crafting an amazing customer experience prior, to, and during lockdown.

Korey Grantham who works at G&E McIntyres captured the attention of a host of industry judges and is one of just six stylists in Britain nominated for Salon Stylist of the Year. The category celebrates a qualified stylist who works full time in a British salon. Strong in both technical and relational skills, stylist Korey stood out for his customer care, extensive product knowledge and commitment to keeping up to date with the latest industry trends. Interest in training and professional growth was essential too, as was evidence of a wider contribution to the salon team, not forgetting glowing client testimonials.

The salon is also recognised for its all-round brilliance, securing a place as one of six companies in the UK now in reach of winning the Salon of the Year award. The category celebrates a single independent venture with an annual turnover of less than £350,000 that is excelling in all aspects of business.

HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards, now in its 22nd year, promotes professionalism, innovation, and excellence, while recognising those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile of the hairdressing industry and make it attractive to new entrants while keeping it at the forefront of the mind of the consumer.

Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards said;

This year has required hair salon owners to adapt, think creatively and showcase tremendous amounts of resilience. I can only imagine how nerve wrecking the last few months have been, but to be named as a finalist in multiple categories, shows just how exceptional G&E McIntyres is. We wish them the best of luck.

On hearing of their success, owners Gavin and Ella McIntyre said:

This year has certainly tested the hair industry to its limits and our business has faced challenges we never imagined we’d see. As salon owners, we have become used to adapting, taking risks, seeing what works, and re-evaluating for the benefit of our business, and these skills have certainly helped us to weather the storm in the last few months. To be named as a finalist feels wonderful. These awards prove to us that hairdressers are strong and resilient. We are survivors.

We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this recognition without the support of our brilliant team who have stood beside us with incredible enthusiasm and commitment.

G&E McIntyres will find out if it has achieved the top spot at an awards evening on Monday 25th January at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
