Ambitious and passionate stylists from across the UK gathered at the ghd studio on Dean Street to get a taste of the amazing opportunities that the 2017 ghd Style Squad will endeavour on!
Hosted by Anton Alexander, ghd UK seminar education manager, the eager audience took a behind-the-scenes look at the projects, inspirations, tasks and exciting opportunities that last year’s style squad got involved in. The taster evening gives delegates an idea of what being on the style squad entails, whether it’s right for them and what can be expected.
Kirsten Bassett, Ben Grace and Sophia Tsilidis, members of the 2016 Style Squad, were interviewed by Anton providing feedback on their year, referring to the incredible events and opportunities that the Style Squad partakes in. References were made to specific projects including one based on the mesmerising Bjork. The project was based on her creativity and passion which gave the squad a wealth of inspiration to replicate, add to and use for their own work. Anton made it clear that the course is not just about hair but all aspects of the creative world, it opens eyes to fashion, make-up, beauty, design, art, culture...the list goes on!
We want to get the squad thinking like designers, not just hairdressers. We emphasise the importance of mood boards for example, and how inspiration can derive from day-to-day life. An important element of the style squad for any member is the ability to take what they’ve learnt back into the salon. Everything that we teach will enable further development on the salon floor. The turnout of the taster evening was great, we’re thrilled with the interest from potential candidates for this unique education experience.
