ghd Rewards and Celebrates Top Fundraising Salons

Share

In 2016, ghd launched a competition in relation to their Electric Pink campaign that saw salons up and down the country raising money through in-salon fundraising for Breast Cancer Now. This year, the five salons that raised the most amount of money were invited to celebrate their achievements and gain well-deserved recognition for their incredible fundraising efforts.

Since 2004 ghd has partnered with breast cancer charities worldwide, raising over £10 million to date across the globe through the sales of limited edition pink stylers. Last year, with the launch of ghd’s Electric Pink campaign and series of ‘You Are Not Defined By Your Hair’ tutorials, salons were inspired to go above and beyond to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

Fundraising activities included raffles, costumes, bake sales, sponsored sports events, in-salon competitions, and even a new Guinness World Record! The top five fundraiser salons were invited to a lunch at the prestigious Berkeley Hotel, where they previewed an exclusive introduction to the brand new ghd pink blush collection, followed by a personal tour of the Breast Cancer Now Institute for Cancer Research.

And the top fundraisers are…

  • Hi-Tec Hairdressing, Omagh, Northern Ireland
  • McGarry & Blair, Glasgow
  • Hayward Lane, Bedford
  • Lotus Styling, Bognor Regis
  • Saks, Bromsgrove

The Breast Cancer Now ICR tour gave the salons an insight into the incredible work scientists are undertaking at the institute, and how ghd’s long-term support and funds are contributing to those important breakthroughs in research. The top five salons alone raised over £13,000 for the charity, which is the equivalent to one of the following:

  • 534 hours of scientific research
  • 19,996 flasks for growing cancer cells
  • 53 antibodies, an essential research tool for our scientists

Lizzie Israeli, Corporate Partnership Manager at Breast Cancer Now, comments,

As the top raising salons last year, we want to say a massive thank you – we know fundraising isn’t always easy but their support and dedication to Breast Cancer Now makes such a huge impact on the future of research. As the biggest breast cancer charity in the UK, our breakthroughs and progress give families hope for a future where no woman or man will die from the disease. They are all making such an incredible difference to the charity!

Jo Robertson, Head of Global Education at ghd, said,

We’re thrilled to be recognising and celebrating the amazing fundraising efforts that these salons have gone through to raise money for Breast Cancer Now. ghd is proud to work with such an amazing charity and to give something back to those top salons who have gone above and beyond to join us in raising money is fantastic. A massive thank you again to all our inspiring salons!

In the UK & Northern Ireland, all donations from ghd pink products go to Breast Cancer Now. Through research projects funded by partners like ghd and through salons, their aim is that by the year 2050, everyone that develops breast cancer will live.
