Over the last ten years the use of plastic has become so ubiquitous that it is hard to comprehend a life before it.

Plastic is everywhere, from teabags to t-shirts. It is estimated that annual global consumption of plastics exceeds 280 million tonnes per year. The issue is that most plastics are single-use and end up in landfill or the ocean. The impact on our marine life has nearly reached a point of no-return with hundreds of species endangered.

This state of affairs has become so drastic that people are starting to take action; with less than 10% of plastic packaging currently recycled, there is a long way to go. Almost 75% of the demand can be attributed to four major industries: packaging, construction, automotive and electrical/electronics. The fashion industry is soon to join these, fuelled by our need for fast fashion.

How can we help?

At Unparalleled Hair over the last 16 years of trading we have always focused our efforts on healthy hair and plant based products. Customers care about style of course but many want to achieve this with the knowledge they are using ethically sourced products, with premium ingredients that are kind to both them and the environment.

We can all do a little in our everyday efforts to cut down the use of plastics; but it is going to take even more. At Unparalleled Hair we want to do what little we can to help one of the most pressing issues of our time. That is why we are very proud to announce the launch of our refilling scheme.

How it works

Simple – buy a retail size shampoo or conditioner, when it’s finished bring it back and we will refill in house. You will even receive a discount of up to 5%! In some cases our wet goods are in plastic bottles, in that case we will have our custom made glass bottles for sale at a subsidised price of just £1.49.
