Multi-award winning salon, Headquarters Kingston recently held an ‘Indian Summer’ themed in-salon hairstyling competition for their apprentices.

Participants gave inspired presentations referencing incredibly creative mood boards. They sourced models and outfits, and undertook their own styling and make-up. The results were uniformly stunning, all the more impressive because some of the apprentices had only a few short months experience.

A trio of expert and exacting judges comprised of Errol Douglas MBE, Mary Forester (fashion blogger), and Julie Allen of Jools PR.

Louis King presented an outstanding woodland fairy with horns made with chicken wire and extensions, beautiful tumbling curls and finished with crumbed gold leaf and ivy. Louis was awarded 1st prize and won a place on a prestigious course with L’Oreal and a Decleor set worth £50. At only 16, Holly Dermott was runner-up and also won a place on a L’Oreal course. Her beautiful loose curls, waterfall braids and perfect French plaits were enhanced with glitter. Eloise Moorshead was highly commended for her metropolitan male with innovative bright orange extensions and soft grey quiff. All the competitors were given constructive feedback by the judges in X Factor style.

Victor Pajak, Salon Director, commented,

Such an inspired night, I was so proud of these amazing young members of the Headquarters team. Each of them gave an incredibly passionate and hugely creative presentation. I think having such prestigious guest judges really helped them up their game. The team’s now stronger and hugely motivated.
