Over 500 staff, industry press and VIP guests joined together to celebrate the 2012 HOB Awards on Sunday 6TH May. Sponsored by Wella Professionals, ghd and Alterna, the evening rewarded and recognised the dedication and hard work of staff throughout the company. Guests arrived at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London for the much anticipated event. The renowned music venue which has played host to stars including Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Pixie Lott to name a few, was transformed into a spectacular theatre style arena with a VIP section for press and special guests.

Compare for the evening Sean Dawson opened the ceremony with a brief welcome before a video highlighting the company’s achievements from the last two years was played across three large screens, showing various events and accolades that have seen the company grow to a 23 strong salon group.

This was echoed by an emotional opening speech by the HOB Directors, touching on their numerous award wins but mostly acknowledging their successful franchisees, office staff, support from the industry and of course their amazing salon teams.

With the eagerly awaited awards ceremony underway, Sean and the HOB Directors Akin Konizi, Clive Collins and Paul Simbler, as well as special guests presented a total of 16 awards. With categories ranging from Assistant Award through to Outstanding Team Award, further special recognition awards were given to acknowledge the outstanding work of the creative, education and office-based teams, all of whom play a fundamental role in the development and growth of the company.

The penultimate Manager Award was presented by Hairdressers Journal Publisher, Jayne Lewis Orr to Jess Kaissel of HOB Salons St Albans. Shortly after followed the most eagerly awaited Best Salon Award which welcomed Managing Director of Wella Professionals, Daniel Minney to announce HOB Northwood as the winners. Also gracing the stage to present was Professional Hairdresser’s Editior, Nicola Shannon, who delivered the Stylist Award and Tribute’s UK Publisher, Nicky Pope, who presented the Retail Salon Award.

With the awards complete and excitement brimming, the bar was opened and canapés were served including mini fish and chips and deep fried ice cream balls and as the DJ took to the decks, the dance floor filled where staff celebrated until the early hours of the morning.

Speaking on the night Wella Professionals National Account Manager, Mark Stranney said “The HOB Awards was a fantastic night, an extremely slick and professional event from start to finish. It highlighted how far HOB Salons have come over the years, and why they are one of the most progressive groups within the hairdressing industry. I was delighted to have been there and shared such a great night with them.”

Peter Tobolski, of Alterna Uk also prevailed good thoughts on the evening, “We are very proud to sponsor the HOB Awards 2012. Jo Robertson Education Manager of ghd echoed these sentiments with, “Just wanted to say a huge thank you for a fantastic evening at the HOB awards on Sunday night.
