With a number of global and UK wins secured in years, HOB Salons are getting set to compete again in this year’s acclaimed Trend Vision Awards as they held their in-house Photographic Competition to find their next entrants! Returning for a third successful year, the event came back with a vengeance and even some special additions including a new category, and a creative showcase! Employees from across the company turned up to compete on Sunday 10th February, fighting for the chance to be entered into Wella’s Trend Vision 2013 as a wildcard entry for the award-winning group.

Taking place all day at the Wella London Studios, a new and exciting ‘Just for fun’ category was added alongside the Colour, Young Talent and Men’s categories, offering the winner a chance to be involved in upcoming shoots and shows for the company.

Open to entrants from all 24 branches, the young talent category had an age restriction of 30 to mirror the Trend Vision Competition, whilst the colour, Men’s and Just for Fun Categories were open to all employees to showcase their creativity.

With the first stage seeing entrants submit an image, each category was whittled down to six lucky finalists in Young Talent and Just for Fun, whilst Men’s welcomed a short-listed seven and the colour category saw four hopefuls compete on the big day. Finalists were required to recreate their initial entry look whilst interpreting their understanding of the HOB Salons brand.

Presenting to the scrutinizing judges, each finalist showcased mood boards and inspiration ideas to panel which included HOB Salons’ Directors Paul Simbler, Clive Collins and three times winner of Hairdressers Journal British Hairdresser of the Year Award, Akin Konizi as well as members of the HOB Salons Creative and Education Team and Wella Technician Fae Hatton.

After a day of styling, colouring and presentations, the evening awards ceremony saw the night compared by Akin, Clive and Paul, followed by an exciting new show from HOB Salons internal creative platform HOB Jamm. Open to all in the company the monthly hub of creative expression, headed up by Education Team member Stan Newton, brought a real buzz to the evening before the lucky winners were announced.

Crowned in the Colour category was HOB Baker Street’s Sean Nolan, whilst in the Men’s category, Whetstone’s Nestor Gomez took centre stage. The third award of the night went to Anneka Roswell of HOB Baker Street for the Just for Fun category, whilst an overjoyed Peter Burkhill of HOB Camden took the acclaimed Young Talent title. Following the exciting news, Peter beamed,

It is a huge honour to have won, especially amongst your peers who are so talented! I am now so excited to start preparing for Trend Vision 2013 and after seeing the success of previous HOB Salons contestants like Jake Unger, I feel so motivated and inspired. The support from HOB Salons is incredible, giving us opportunities like this and pushing us to be the best we can!

The winners are now preparing for the prestigious competition as they get set to represent HOB Salons and fight for a place at Wella’s Trend Vision 2013.
