The Fellowship’s In Business event, held at the ghd Studios in London, saw a fantastic line-up of special guest interviews awaiting the sold out audience, with all proceeds from the event going to The Hairdressers Charity.

Compere for the evening, Edward Hemmings, welcomed everyone to what he promised would be “a great evening”, before kicking of proceedings by introducing industry icon, Lee Stafford for his one-to-one interview.

During the interview Lee fondly described his mother’s influence in his decision to start a career in hairdressing. His own personality was evident throughout, with him stating that he has to be one of the only youngsters who went to every interview with his mother at the start. Lee’s career spans decades and he reflected on his involvement with other salons as he developed his skills, before opening his own salon at 22. His celebrity hairdressing background is one that started with GMTV, before he went on to work on numerous shows resulting in him meeting his wife - an aspect of his life that clearly means the world to Lee and was lovely to hear. The interview was a chance to really get an insight into Lee Stafford and his brand. His involvement in his own product range was one that had peaks and troughs and he was open in revealing how he has come to produce a popular retail range prominent in Boots. He ended with, “Never done a day’s work in my life and I have always been content and happy in what I do”.

After a quick break, Edward Hemmings then returned to the stage to welcome a panel of industry experts for a question and answer session with the audience. Clive Collins from HOB Salons; Michelle Griffin from Griffins Salon and Louise Wood from LWPR joined him on stage for this opportunity. It was a brilliant session and covered topics in recruitment, social media and discounting.

Edward Hemmings, Business Education Manager, said,

This was the second event of this format and what a huge success it was. It was fascinating to hear from Lee Stafford about his amazing career. You couldn’t help but be inspired by his personal and professional stories from such an industry icon. It was lovely to be able to meet so many of the guests over a quick drink before a fantastic question and answer session with three top professionals in their fields. We made sure we covered all aspects including education, franchising and PR. A great night with all ticket proceeds going to The Hairdressers Charity.
