It’s All About the Music

Simon Webster Hair recently launched their new client-interactive music system in collaboration with PRS for Music - and the party was a big one!

The team were thrilled to announce earlier in the year that they had won a music makeover for the salon, courtesy of PRS for Music, in recognition of their work with musicians and artists as well as their passion for creativity and ideas about the importance of music in a working and social environment.

The prize was £5,000 to spend on an integrated music system that would improve their clients’ experience of the music they play in-salon. For months Simon Webster Hair have been working with Radio 6’s Steve Levine and PRS to design a music system with improved sound quality and that encourages clients to engage with the music they’re listening to; picking out tracks, adding to playlists and set the tone for their visit.

Now, each of the salon floors has its own independent music network, accessed via an iPad. A new vinyl deck allows for favourite 45s and LPs to be played through the system, complete with atmospheric crackle, and the salon will be planning some special events with clients bringing along their old favourite 45s to play whilst being pampered.

The launch party was a fabulous evening celebrating the products of local businesses (Hell’s Kitchen and Bison Beer supplying a wicked selection of refreshments), local creatives (Toy Pincher and Cassette Lord showcasing their skills), local musicians (Lakuta and DJ Ovre set the beat for the after party), and independents all over Brighton joined the salon to celebrate.

Already the new system has made a great difference by defining the floors of the salon as separate zones with their own feel and buzz. Clients and staff alike love it and are taking lots of requests!

So come in, try it out and be your own DJ for your appointment!
