Keep Up: Hair & Barber Council Storming Success

Share

The Hair & Barber Council's action committee put on another incredible pop-up hair event, this time hosted by the fabulous Karine Jackson at her Covent Garden salon.

55 state registered hairdressers came to the event. The styling team, which consisted of Anne Veck, Sophia Osborn from Karine Jackson, Hair Club Live’s Karoliina Saunders and Ben Madle were all invited to perform by the unquestionably talented Ross Cosgrove from Not Another Salon.

With prosecco in hand this supportive crowd were entertained by the up-close and personal demonstrations given by each guest artist. Ross, whose styling skills are constantly in demand at all major fashion weeks across the world, experimented with a Gucci androgynous look, turning his model’s hair from her blonde pixie cut into a head hugging red cap. Sophia Osborn used a nylon head cap to help create a halo shape which reflected her inspiration, again from the Gucci spring / summer 2016 catwalks. Proving why she really is the current Southern Hairdresser of the year, Anne Veck pulled off a gorgeous multi-strand mermaid look. Using hair wefts, Anne utilised a range of different plaiting techniques. Newcomer to the Hair Council platform, Karoliina Saunders worked a beautiful look on her model, showcasing her precise and clean hair-up skills. Finally, Hair Club Live favourite Ben Madle created a beautiful shape on his model’s mid-length hair. Describing his look as, “hair that’s got wet in the rain and been pulled back into a ponytail“.

State Registered hairdresser and salon owner, Karine Jackson said,

I am so passionate about the industry and I totally support what the Hair & Barber Council are doing. I am constantly telling my team how important it is that we are all properly trained and professionalised. We need to shout about it. All of us need to shout about it! We need to make the consumer more aware of the risks.

Guests were spoilt throughout the evening from the free flowing prosecco and beautiful work from inspirational Hairdressers, to the fab goodie bags from Schwarzkopf Professional (worth £35) given to each and every guest. The mega-prize raffle raised almost £300 on the night with tempting gift packages from GHD, Balmain, Joico, Anne Veck and Unite.

Penny Etheridge, leader of the Hair & Barber Council's Action Committee said,

The Hair and Barber Council would like to say a massive thank you to all the product suppliers who generously donated to the event as well as to Karine for offering her salon, team and facilities. Most of all, a huge thank you to the hairdressers and other industry experts who continue to believe in and support the drive towards state registration.
