Local hairdressers MAD and certified

Share

Expecting staff to attend business meetings on a Sunday evening and having stylists trained by a shaven-headed ex-professional footballer are just two of the quirky reasons that Berkhamsted salon, Cienté, is MAD (Making a Difference).

Everyone from the award-winning salon participated in a Sunday evening Make a Difference (MAD) team-building event, organised by Cienté salon director, Trisha Buller, and everyone was delighted when the surprise guest speaker turned out to be footballing legend Luther Blissett.

The ex-Watford player enthralled the Cienté team with his account of how the unfancied side from the Fourth Division gained successive promotions and worked its way right to the top of the First Division, to finish runners-up in 1982-83 behind Bob Paisley’s mighty Liverpool.

The Watford team’s extraordinary results, from what Luther Blissett self-effacingly described as an “ordinary group of players”, were down to practice, practice, practice, sheer hard work and an indomitable team spirit. These characteristics, he said, make the difference to all teams, whether on the football pitch or in the hairdressing salon.

The MAD mantra is certainly working for Berkhamsted’s multi award-winning salon. After his speech, the Watford hero congratulated the latest group of Cienté stylists to become State Registered Hairdressers.

Cienté now has the distinction of being the only hairdressing salon in the whole of Britain where the majority of stylists are registered. And Cienté boasts more certified colour specialists than any other hairdressing salon anywhere.

The Cienté people are determined to make a difference outside the salon too, with their tireless work of raising money for charity and supporting other local businesses.

As the Watford legend and top goal scorer Luther Blissett says,

You can find a million reasons why you can’t make a difference, but there’s just one reason why you should. That reason is because you can!
