MACK Wins Prestigious Award At The 2014 LÕOrŽal Colour Trophy
Marcus Wright and Mike Hopper from MACK stole the crown as the 'Number One' salon in the Eastern UK region at the 2014 L’Oréal Colour Trophy - one of hairdressing industry's most prestigious events.
On Monday 23rd July, the salon's creative three-month journey came to a dramatic finale inside the stunning Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, with MACK now taking their new title onwards and upwards into an exciting new year.
Over 1000 of the hairdressing industries most acclaimed and famous figures filled the dazzling venue with immense applause as MACK rushed to the stage to collect their prestigious award. The gorgeous Caroline Flack, the 2014 L’Oréal Colour Trophy Presenter, handed the team their trophy during a moment they will never forget. Speaking on their win, the MACK team said,
We feel so ecstatic to have won the Eastern Region of the L’Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy, It is such a massive competition in our industry, and we are so proud to be part of a winning team and salon group.
The MACK team created a fashion focused model look that took the judging panel by storm and ensured them a prominent place amongst the 32 grand finalists from across the UK. The striking finished look was a long, layered and angled haircut with a blunt fringe combined with a deep red hair colour that accentuated the texture at the ends and created a mirror like shine through the fringe.
Filled with hope and determination MACK entered their photographic entry into the competition back in March, which began their epic three month journey. Their super cool model look stood out amongst the many entries and secured them a place within one of the high energy eight Regional Finals across the UK. With over 465 fellow regional finalists, once again MACK wowed the Eastern judging panel with their flawless live hairdressing skills and fashion led overall model look, achieving themselves a sought-after place at the famous L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final.
During the intense day of the grand final, tension was slowly built as an elite panel of highly successful, world renowned hairdressers were brought in to ensure each model infused the three elements of a precision cut, flawless looking colour and catwalk inspired styling. Leaders in the industry included Carolyn Newman, Jason Miller, Jamie Brooks, Sally Brooks, Jo Hansford MBE, Richard Ward and Guy Cramer - all on board to ensure the overall winner encapsulated ‘Hair Inspired by Fashion’.
After the tough judging process each perfectly styled model and nervous team were taken over to the Grosvenor House where Marcus and Mike were about to experience the most memorable moment in their careers. The L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final engulfed the Grosvenor House with a mammoth 45 meter long high-shine Perspex runway, with breath-taking lighting and five enormous moving boxed video screens, never seen before inside the time-honoured venue. The glamorous room was brought to a tremendous close as Marcus and Mike were announced as a regional winner of the 2014 L’Oréal Colour Trophy.
The esteemed judging panel each agreed that Marcus and Mike had met the brief with exactitude; the model's look was a perfect example of beautifully executed colour and demonstrated a clear understanding of Autumn/Winter 14/15 catwalk trends.
