Manchester Masterclass

Manchester welcomed their first Masterclass on Monday 6th February, as the sold out audience were treated to incredible hair by four masters, as well as an insight in to Fellowship President Bruno Marc’s career in a special guest interview.

The first half saw compere Darren Messias from K H Hair introducing Jayne Littler from Andrew Collinge and Daniel Granger from Daniel Granger Hairdressing. Jayne went back to basics and worked with curls to create her looks. She worked with tongs and a definer comb to enhance the styles, using rose gold to compliment the natural softness. Her belief in education was evident as she conveyed to the audience the importance of never giving up.

Daniel also highlighted the key of education in hairdressing, as he worked with a strong layered haircut that used pivot points throughout the back to create the weight. Beautiful rose strawberry tones and sandy blondes complimented his use of shape and enhanced the overall beautiful looks.

It was then an opportunity for the packed auditorium to hear all about Bruno Marc’s incredible career, as he joined Darren Messias for a one-to-one interview. His many years within the industry include owning several salons and launching their own product range. It was apparent the passion Bruno has for hairdressing and he emphasised just how crucial it is to share with others, which is something The Fellowship does so well. Bruno spoke fondly about his involvement with The F.A.M.E. Team and he referred to this as “the jewel in the crown”.

It was then a chance to see work showcased by Johnny Shanahan from Barber Barber UK and Mai Ha from Trevor Sorbie.

Determined to put barbering back on the map, Johnny’s two models demonstrated the skill and passion he undoubtedly has. He spoke about how this is “the best job in the world” as he worked with a classic barbershop pompadour shape on one of his models. Mai Ha worked with longer hair looks as this is something she specialises in with her session work. Her looks were inspired by her array of past collections, as well as her involvement with the Art Team over the last six to seven years.

What an incredible night in Manchester. With such a brilliant line-up it was no wonder it was a sell out and the audience were treated to some stunning looks by the masters. It was fantastic to be able to hear from Bruno on his career to date and the audience was given a real insight into The Fellowship President’s industry background. A great evening and I can’t wait for the next event in March.
