The Hairdressers’ Charity's recent bike ride raised £9,000 towards helping hairdressers in need.
The bike ride, organised for the second time by Victor Pajak from Headquarters, took place in Lugar do Montinho, Monchique in Portugal. With a cycling agenda catering for all levels of cycling, 21 riders took part to help raise the funds for the industry’s charity.
The riders included teams from The Hairdressers’ Charity co-President Philip Sharp and charity supporters, Victor Pajak (Headquarters) Andrew and Julie Mercer (Goldwell), Brian Thomson (Leslie Hairdressing), Sarah Morrissey (Sarai Hair & Beauty), Russell Eaton (Russel Eaton Hair), Jon Chapman, Kate Preston and Libby Rock (Kate Preston Salons), Jo Martin, Neil Cornay (L’Oreal Professional), Bruno Giamattei (Marc Antoni Hair), Jeff Goodwin (Jeff Goodwin Hair), Toby Dicker (The Chapel), Alan Edwards (Alan Edwards Hair), Philip Norman, Adrian Dunham and Perry Payne (The Gallery Haircutters), Karine Jackson (Karine Jackson Hair & Beauty), and Andre Marsh (Scruffs Hairdressing). A special shout out goes to our top fundraiser Karine Jackson who raised £1,400 for the charity.
This was my second year of organising the bike ride and once again it was great fun; the camaraderie and support of the attendees - both regulars and newbies, was great and everyone was encouraging when it came to tackling the terrain of the tough Monchique hills. The bike ride is a good way to raise awareness of the charity’s needs whilst meeting new friends in the industry. The money raised really does make a difference to those who need it most. It was a fantastic event and I can’t wait until the next one! - Victor Pajak
The charity bike ride is one of the best ways of supporting The Hairdressers’ Charity, whilst at the same time forming friendships with so many talented hairdressers in our industry. When you sign up, you become part of a diverse community of likeminded people who are a joy to spend time with. I would recommend anyone thinking of taking part in this event in future years to sign up, once you do, you will be hooked and you will have the time of your life. A massive thank you to Victor Pajak who organised this year’s bike ride, his humour wit, inclusion and generosity, makes the trip a joy for everyone taking part. - Philip Sharp
