Pestle & Mortar Erase and Renew the Power of the Double Cleanse
Erase and Renew is the Pestle & Mortar double cleansing system.
Comprising three components, the system was born from a desire to satisfy three principles of facial cleansing – that the face should be cleansed twice in order to achieve optimum results; that the cleansing ritual should be a holistic treat rather than a chore and that the cleansing process should perform the tri-fold function of cleansing, polishing and nourishing the skin.

As a busy mum with five children, I like my skincare routines to be effective, simple and enjoyable. Double cleansing prevents the skin from becoming dull and prepares it for optimal absorption of active ingredients in creams and serums. I formulated Erase and Renew to effectively cleanse, polish and nourish the skin and I wanted the application ritual to be enjoyable and beneficial also.
Pestle & Mortar Erase & Renew
Erase (RRP €43.00, £36.00)
Erase is the first step in the Pestle & Mortar double cleanse ritual. This gentle, calming, lightly scented balm glides over the skin, instantly removing make-up, dirt and oil. The skin is cleansed and PH levels are balanced. Erase is paraben-free, mineral oil-free, silicone-free, sulphate-free, propylene glycol-free and synthetic fragrance-free.
Benefits: The unique combination of natural ingredients present in Erase work together to cleanse and hydrate the skin. Suitable for all skin-types, Erase is formulated with grape seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, pumpkin enzymes and prickly pear seed oil. After cleansing with Erase, skin feels calm and hydrated and is prepared for step two of the double cleanse ritual.
How to use: For best results, apply Pestle & Mortar’s Erase by warming up a small amount of product between your fingers before massaging onto dry skin. Be mindful of the subtle natural scent and luxuriate in the feel of the product on your skin. Dampen the double sided cloth with warm water and, using the textured side, remove the cleansing balm from your face.
Renew (RRP €43.00, £36.00)
Renew is an illuminating gel cleanser and is step two in the double cleanse ritual. Formulated with fruit enzymes, superoxide dismutase and meadowfoam seed oil, Renew improves skin tone, tightens pores and leaves skin polished and illuminated.
Benefits: Papaya and mango fruit enzymes improve skin’s texture and tone whilst tightening pores for a glowing complexion. Superoxide dismutase provides anti-ageing benefits. Pore blockages are removed and skin is optimally prepared to receive active ingredients in serums and face creams.
How to use: For best results, dispense one pump of Renew and apply to dry skin, massaging gently with the fingertips. Dampen the double sided cloth with warm water and, using the smooth side, remove the cleansing gel from your face. Renew can also be used as a standalone cleansing solution – particularly effective in the morning as an illuminating start to your day.
Erase & Renew Cleansing Cloth (RRP €15.00, £13.50)
An essential tool in the Pestle & Mortar double cleanse ritual, the cleansing cloth is a double sided 100% cotton facial cloth. The cleansing cloth features a naturally exfoliating muslin side and a smoother cotton side for polishing and perfecting your complexion.
Benefits: Use of the facial cloth to remove product ensures that all product is removed from the skin. The skin is exfoliated and polished in the process and the temperature and amount of water used on the face is controlled. The use of the cleansing cloth maximises the benefits of Erase and Renew.
How to use: Moisten the cloth with warm water and wring out. Use the textured side to remove Erase. Rinse and repeat using the smooth side to remove Renew. The cloth is machine washable at 40 degrees.
