The BAFTA Scotland Awards honour excellence and celebrate talent across Scotland’s screen industries and the Rainbow Room International team are asked back year after year to provide their hair styling services and ensure talent look and feel their very best for the evening.
In attendance from the Rainbow Room International team this year were Rachael Macdonald, salon director at the Ayr salon, Archie Lam, stylist at the Uddingston salon, Jordan Murdoch, graduate stylist at the George Square salon, Anna Macintyre, stylist from the Bearsden salon, Ellie Addison, graduate stylist from the East Kilbride salon, Sof Kinloch, designer stylist from the George Square salon and Aimie Doak, art director from the Buchanan Street salon.
The team created a wide range of hair looks for the stars for the event, with one of the most highly requested and trending looks for the evening being soft, refined updos with lots of hairspray for ultimate hold.
Rachael created a beautiful soft, loose pinned updo for Krysty Cairns, Writer of 1917 and The Good Nurse, to compliment her incredible suit and corset combo. Rachael also styled the hair for the youngest BAFTA nominee, Frankie Corio, who stars in the film Aftersun, providing her with her first every curly updo with volume. Jordan enhanced Blue Jean Actress and winner of the Actress Film category on the night, Lucy Halliday’s natural waves and gave them a super polished and glossy appearance and Ellie, Sof and Archie all tended to the tresses of Capital Radio Host, Tallia Storm, who also opted for a curly updo come topknot.
Some other faces that came to see the Rainbow Room International team included Meryl Williams (The Traitors) who had her hair styled into soft glossy curls by Aimie, Ashley Jensen (Mayflies) who had her hair styled into a low, tousled ponytail by Jordan and Ellie MacDowall (Archie) who had her hair styled by Anna into chic smooth voluminous updo to name a few.
Commenting on the experience, Rachael Macdonald, Salon Director at Rainbow Room International’s Ayr salon said, “Working at this year’s BAFTA Scotland event we had mixed feelings of nerves and excited, however, when we got to work, each celebrity brought their own fun personality to the backstage salon set up, that instantly took our nerves away. We had such a fantastic time and were honoured to work on the celebrity's hair. Archie and I also stayed on well into the night to do touch ups and ensure everyone looked their best at all times, including for their backstage interviews. The day was a great success with plenty of wonderful memorable moments for us to keep and cherish.”
