Rick Roberts Inspires the ClubStar Art Team

The countdown is well and truly on for the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Projects to pick up where they left off with in-person mentoring in the new year – but while they await their in-person reunion, the education continues online.

For the ClubStar Art Team, this most recently meant an engaging Zoom session with reigning Afro Hairdresser of the Year, Rick Roberts. Rick hosted a textured hair session for the team, ahead of a planned in-person workshop for 2021. The session started with Rick sharing his journey as a hairdresser, including running a busy salon, working as a Schwarzkopf Professional educator, and how he plans, produces and promotes his award-winning creative collections.

Rick then talked to the group about their experience with textured hair, sharing some of his practical advice and recommendations. The session served as the perfect prep for the ClubStar Art Team’s in-person workshop with Rick, allowing them to ask questions and work together as a team to decide on the areas which they would like to work on in a practical class.

“At times like this, these sessions are invaluable,” says team leader Karoliina Saunders. “The team felt so motivated and excited afterwards, which is just what we aimed for and need right now.”

The ClubStar Art Team, along with the Fellowship’s other Projects, will be reuniting in 2021 to resume their year-long programs of education, opportunities and events.
