RRI Create Behind The Scenes Hair Magic at LFW

Share
It’s been an exciting September for local Salon Director, Rachael Macdonald, based at Rainbow Room International’s Ayr salon, who attended London Fashion Week to lend her hairdressing expertise to the model's backstage before hitting the runway of the Malan Breton SS24 show at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.

The show was Malan Breton’s final show before retirement after an incredible 30-year career and with that in mind, it had to be showstopping.

This year, Rachael took on the challenge of training with Rainbow Room International’s Art Team run by award-winning hairdresser and Schwarzkopf Ambassador, Suzie McGill. Training with the Art Team has allowed Rachael to be able to work backstage at many top events, at hair shows and backstage at London Fashion Week, and when the opportunity to work this year at LFW for the Malan Breton Show with Schwarzkopf came about, she was thrilled to put her name down.

The show saw 60 models walking with 33 hairdressers to tend their hair. Rachael, alongside hairstylist, Caitlin Trenholme, from Salon 3 in Douglas, worked together to create looks on the models. The team from Haug London Haus provided a step by step run through of their design and goal for the hair of the models, allowing them to dive right in and create the looks.

The looks were inspired by Kylie Minogue – hair gathered from the front into a high pony that then melted into the hair at the back and hung over the shoulder. The key to creating the look was ensuring the hair had a lot of volume with the use of styling products and hair tools such as the old school crimper.

Commenting on the experience, Rachael Macdonald said, “The show was crazy but a lot of fun! It’s particularly special being put in a team with some of the best stylists Britain has to offer. I had a fantastic time and I have been thrilled to see my hair work being featured in established consumer magazine, Harper’s Baazaar.”
