Sean Taaffe Hair & Beauty has celebrated five years of creatively styling heads in County Kerry with a special birthday celebration, held on Tuesday June 14th at its premises on Lewis Road in Killarney.

Events on the day included ghd demonstrations, helping people create the perfect ghd looks, while Keune Master Colourist Editha Cocks travelled all the way from The Netherlands to offer expert tips and trials as well as outlining the hottest colours for the season ahead. The team were also joined by the Spin Southwest spinnies on the day who helped to give away a range of fantastic prizes to listeners and visitors to the store.

The Killarney salon is Sean Taaffe’s second premises in Kerry and since its establishment, has become recognised as one of the leading salons in the country for innovation and creative talent.

Sean himself has been involved in the hairdressing industry since the age of 14. In 1989 he established his own salon in Killorglin, thus beginning to carve out a successful career as an entrepreneur and savvy businessman.

In 2006, following success with the Killorglin business, Sean made the leap and opened the second salon in Killarney, offering locals a cool, funky and ultra-modern option on par with leading Dublin salons. Today, Sean employs a team of 20 highly-skilled professionals, each with their own unique skills, as well as a client database in excess of 4,000!

The reason behind the salon’s success is its ever evolving portfolio of services. Since opening, over €500,000 has gone into developing the business with further projects already in the pipeline for the year ahead. Most recently, the salon celebrated the launch of its dedicated bridal suite, while it is currently refurbishing the popular beauty parlour to incorporate a range of new services for clients. These will include specialised waxing and gelac nails as well as offering some of world’s leading make-up brands such as Benefit and MAC.

And Sean won’t be stopping there! In September 2011, the salon will launch its exclusive training school, the first of its kind in the region, offering full-time 12-month courses to trainee stylists. With only five places available per course, it is set to offer one of the lowest teacher/pupil ratio schools in the country, meaning students will get great one-to-one training. The courses will also be internationally accredited by three of the top certification bodies in the industry, further adding to the uniquely high calibre of the course.

Speaking at the birthday event Sean Taaffe said...

It is fantastic to be marking five years in business here in Killarney. It is testament to my superb hard-working team and our wonderful clientele that we have achieved so much success to date. We are looking forward to offering even more exclusive services in the coming months with the opening of our new beauty parlour and come September, our new training school; it’s a very exciting time for the business so I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our success along the way.

On the day, the salon also announced the winner of its Poster Image competition with local model Orla Moynihan from Killarney becoming the face of the Sean Taaffe Spring/Summer collection in both salons and on the company website.
