Shaping Futures Announces New Volunteers

Schwarzkopf Professional Shaping Futures Project Manager, Tiffany McLean has named her new team who will be heading out to Jordan in July.

The initiative has had a change of location for this year’s volunteers from the usual destination of India to Jordan. Shaping Futures is a social initiative launched by Schwarzkopf Professional in cooperation with SOS Children’s Villages, helping to transform the lives of young adults around the world.

This year the initiative is expanding its global connections and working with the Princess Taghrid Institute in Amman, Jordan. The institute was built two years ago and is a creative art and handcrafts training centre for disadvantaged young women. A team of volunteers will join Schwarzkopf Professional partner, Munir Sukhtain Group in Jordan to provide a four week intense training course supporting and teaching these young adults the skills needed to get a job and earn a living. The 20 students will be taught how to cut, blow-dry and colour hair, and at the end of the course will be placed as an apprentice within a large salon in Jordan.

The team are: Rhys Davidson, Rhys Davidson Hair / Nikki Finnis, Schwarzkopf Professional ASK Advisor / Anthony McMeiken, Janet Maitland Hair Excellence / Paul Meekin, Partners Hair / Kevin Kahan, Kevin Kahan Hairdressing / Abbie Lawson, Interserve Ltd / Fadi Fuad Al-Barkawi, Franck Provost

Janet Maitland, Shaping Futures ambassador says,

It’s going to be a new challenge this year with the change of location, but a challenge that we’re all excited and willing to take! We’ve become quite familiar with the SOS Children’s Villages in India so this year’s trip to Jordan will definitely motivate the team and keep us on our toes! I am so excited to have such a fantastic team this year; we’ve got some real talent and some great teachers.

The team have already had their two day training session at the Schwarzkopf Professional ASK Academy where they were brought up to speed on the training, facilities available and asked any questions they might have about the trip.
