Share

Local salon, Simon Webster Hair in Brighton has won a place at the Southern Regional Finals of the hairdressing industry’s most fashion-led live hairdressing competition, the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2015, which will take place on 21st April at the London Royal Agricultural Halls.

In the first round, hundreds of photographic images from across the country were judged by the hairdressing industries most influential names in hairdressing including last year’s winner and X-Factor hairdresser, Jamie Stevens, The 2012 title holders Sally and Jamie Brooks, leading session stylist and press favourite Adam Reed and hairdressing icon Charles Worthington MBE. Javier Encina-Jones from Simon Webster Hair fought off stiff competition and was successfully chosen to take part in the high energy Regional Finals being held throughout April 2015.

The next stage of the competition will put Simon Webster Hair through their paces as they will now create a live model look that demonstrates awareness for Autumn/Winter 2015/16 hair and fashion trends. As outlined in the brief, the model look must be original, modern and inspirational. The team of judges are looking for a trend-setting, show stopping total look that can inspire clients and hairdressers.

Since they opened in 2012, Simon Webster Hair has qualified for the L’Oreal Colour Trophy every single year, and this year Javier is the stylist representing the salon team and is overjoyed with having broken through to the next level of the competition. The team will now join 60 other salons from across the Southern region in a bid to make it through to the Grand Final to compete for the coveted L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2015. Javier said,

This year is special because it’s the 60th Anniversary of the Colour Trophy, so I’m even more thrilled that we got through to the Regional’s. To top it off, we’re also through to the English Hair & Beauty Awards Grand Final and the Mizani Grand Final, so it’s going to be quite a busy and exciting month, but I’m focused on my entry and making sure that the hair is as beautiful as it can be.

The fashion-fuelled, high energy event will be one of eight highly anticipated regional finals happening up and down the country. Each salon team will only have 30 tense minutes to bring their model look to life and demonstrate that they are the region’s most talented and creative hairdresser to a panel of judges consisting of acclaimed hairdressers. Trevor Sorbie MBE added,

It’s a great achievement to make it to this stage; the Regional finals have an amazing atmosphere bringing talented hairdressers from all over the region under one roof. What turns my head and captures my attention is when all the elements come together, great model with styling and makeup that work flawlessly with the cut and colour – an overall style that looks effortless and this is what the teams must show the judges at each regional final in order to progress to the next stage.

Simon Webster Hair could be one of just six salons to walk away with a place in the industries longest running, glamorous awards event, the 60th annual L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final on June 1st 2015 inside the stunning Battersea Evolution, Battersea Park, London. This stage leaves them just one step away from scooping the unparalleled prize of national media exposure and glamorous fashion shoots!
