SJ Forbes, the award-winning, independent hairdressing salon in Egham, Surrey, has used a nationwide industry hairdressing event to help raise much-needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The ‘Big Hair Do’, organised by Creative HEAD magazine, is a key business-building event that offers local salons the opportunity to invite consumers in for after-hours styling and socialising, to showcase the treatments and services on offer to potential clients in the locality.

On the night, the SJ Forbes team offered blow-dry lessons, hair braiding tutorials and glitter partings, while guests enjoyed money off retail products and food provided by local Indian restaurant Haweli.

As well as meeting potential clients from the area, SJ Forbes Co-Director, Hayley Gibson-Forbes, used the event as a vehicle to raise money for charity, by inviting those who attended the ‘Big Hair Do’ back to the salon the following day to enjoy coffee and cake and donate money to Macmillan.

Hayley Gibson-Forbes said,

The Big Hair Do was a great success and we were thrilled that so many existing and potential clients came along to show their support. It was a great opportunity to showcase our skills as a forward thinking salon in the area, and engage with new clients at the same time. Making money for Macmillan on the back of this event was the cherry on the coffee morning cake! It is so important to give back to the local community, and fundraising is one of the ways SJ Forbes loves to do this.
