Mynach, is one of seven apprentices chosen to go to Tarragona, where they will work in salons and attend workshops at the Schwarzkopf Academy, Barcelona and the Institute Cal Lipolis, the college partner for the visit.

Her foundation apprenticeship in hairdressing is being delivered by Bridgend-based ISA Training, the largest independent hair and beauty training provider in Wales, who have organised the work experience placement with funding support from the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme for education, training, youth and sport.

My 17th birthday will be special as I’ll be celebrating it while I’m away in Spain, said Georgia. I am looking forward to the experience and learning new things, especially how they do fantastic blow-dries and other techniques.

I have never had an interest in anything other than hairdressing and couldn’t wait to leave school to do what I wanted to do. My ambition is to be a successful hairdresser and I would love to own my own salon in the future.

The other lucky apprentices are Emily Morgan, of Sunkissed Hair and Beauty, Tredegar, Jadene Bennett from The Hair Den, Barry, Jess Sayce from Hair by Jones, Monmouth, Owen Grey from Todaros, Milford Haven, Roxanne White from Andrew Price, Lampeter and Amy Wensley of USTU, PorthcawlJoining them will be Cheryl Pearcey, partnership manager and Katie Lee, team administrator, from ISA Training.

Berni Tyler, ISA Training’s managing director, said,

The work placement is designed to show the apprentices the exciting career opportunities that exist in Spain and introduce them to the country’s culture.

We want to enhance the learning experience and inspire our learners to realise that hairdressing and beauty therapy are professions that can grant them a passport to travel the world.

The Spanish visit has been arranged as part of ISA Training’s Oyster Project, which is based on the saying ‘The world is your oyster’. The project aims to enhance the learning experience of apprentices, increase their confidence and broaden their career horizons.

The company has already arranged visits for learners to experience the hair industry in Spain, Cyprus, Poland, Turkey and New York. The Erasmus+ programme offers exciting opportunities for UK participants to study, work, volunteer, teach and train abroad in Europe.

ISA Training, which has more than 700 learners and 550 employers on its books, specialises in workplace training, delivering government funded programmes in hairdressing and beauty, customer service, management and team leadership in Wales and England.
