A group of young talented hairdressers from Spirit Hair Team in Ystrad Mynach wowed audiences at November’s UK Skills Show as part of ISA Training’s Showcase, Hairdressing – A Timeline of Success.

Held at the NEC in Birmingham, the show, whose patron is Dragon’s Den Entrepreneur Theo Paphitis, recognises the very best in vocational skills and training. ISA Training is one of only four Welsh organisations selected to showcase hairdressing skills at the event which saw over 100,000 visitors in its three day run.

Spirit’s Laura Atkins styled Georgina Lamorte’s hair into a classic 80s inspired style, recreating a look that won first prize at Salon Cymu 2013 - Wales’ largest hair and beauty competition held annually in Cardiff.

Laura was assisted on stage by Nikita Clothier, both Laura and Nikita are stylists at Spirit and are both completing their NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing with ISA Training. Laura said,

I loved every moment of showcasing my skills, although I preferred getting on with the styling than talking! Nikita explained to the audience what I was doing and how I was doing it.

The audience rushed to take photos of the stylists and their model at the end of the showcase which lasted for an hour. Dawn Elliott from ISA Training who organised the showcase said,

ISA Training is so proud of the creativity of our apprentices and learners. The buzz they created with the audience was amazing and they truly deserved the recognition they received from the crowd.
