Student of the Year 2018 Winners Announced

Share

The winners of the Hair Council Student of the Year, in association with Goldwell and VTCT, have been announced.

Following a photographic competition, judged by Patrick Cameron, Andrew Barton and Jamie Stevens, eight Level 2 and eight Level 3 students contested the final. The practical took place at the Goldwell Academy in the heart of London where the finalists had to recreate their original photographic look. The competition was judged by Sean Hanna's Artistic Director and session stylist, Yesmin O'Brien as well as Rebecca Adams and Sally Shiels from The Chapel, and Jayne Schauenburg, a previous winner herself and hairdressing educator.

They then went on to be interviewed by HJi's Jayne Lewis-Orr, VTCT's Sam Luce and Jayne Schauenburg. They were not just asked about their work, but the work of the Hair & Barber Council. CEO/Registrar, Keith Conniford said,

Each year I am amazed and humbled by the passion, commitment and dedication the entrants show for their craft and for the industry as a whole. They are the lifeblood of our great industry and the future 'stars' of tomorrow!

All 16 finalists received a goody bag packed with products from Goldwell, KMS, GHD, Balmain and Bluebeards Revenge.

Many congratulations to Carla Mackle from Southern Regional College who won the Level 2 competition and to Liberty Clark from Francesco Group who won the Level 3 competition. Liberty was our Level 2 winner for 2017. Who would have thought that for a second year in a row we have had another student win two consecutive years!
