The BHAs Are Now Open for Entry

Share

HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, are open for entry, and with the launch of two new categories, there’s never been a better time to enter.

Now in its 34th year, the awards are established as the ultimate accolade in hairdressing, with a win helping to propel the career of any hairdresser. Household names, industry icons and celebrity stylists alike have all made their name at the awards, while salons across the country have grown their businesses, increased their profile and gained global reach through their entries.

Even making the shortlist of the awards puts your name on the map, with work shared on HJ’s social media reaching an audience of more than 800,000 dedicated followers. That’s not to mention the attention received at Salon International, where collections from all finalists are showcased to an audience of UK and international visitors in the must-visit Gallery, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.

This year, there are two new categories to enter, making the awards accessible to more stylists – and changing even more lives as new finalists and winners are announced. The International Collection of the Year and Trend Image categories have been created to attract a wider audience, making the awards a truly global opportunity.

The International Collection of the Year award is open to all qualified hairdressers with a regular client column who work outside of the UK in a commercial environment and have done so for at least three years (excluding training). The Trend Image category is open to freelance, self-employed and salon-based hairdressers aged 30 or under who are either training or qualified – and only one image needs to be submitted to enter.

As well as the two new additions, the established regional and specialist categories are also open for entry, representing all areas and aspects of the British hairdressing industry. Representing the length and breadth of Great Britain, the regional categories are: Eastern Hairdresser of the Year, London Hairdresser of the Year, Midlands Hairdresser of the Year, North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year, North Western Hairdresser of the Year, Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year, Scottish Hairdresser of the Year, Southern Hairdresser of the Year and Wales & South West Hairdresser of the Year. Covering the diverse array of technical skills involved in hairdressing, the specialist categories are: Afro Hairdresser of the Year, Artistic Team of the Year, Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year, Men’s Hairdresser of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year.

HJ’s executive director, Jayne Lewis Orr says:

We’re always looking at ways to evolve the British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. The Trend Image and International Collection of the Year categories open up the reach of the awards to even more people, and we’re excited to see all of the new names making their mark with entries. These new categories allow the event to continue to grow and showcase the very best in regional and specialist hairdressing. We can’t wait to see everyone’s entries!
