Where Beauty Meets the Beat

Award-winning salon group and Scotland's colour experts, Rainbow Room International, hosted a pop-up salon backstage over two weekends for the second year running at TRNSMT festival in Glasgow, providing haircuts and hairstyles to performing artists backstage.

Rainbow Room International have previously styled hair at many high profile events including the MOBOs, the Scottish BAFTAs, The Scottish Style Awards and also T in The Park, where they were resident hairdressers to the stars for eleven years.

Friday 29th June-Sunday 1st July

The first weekend, Friday 29th June-Sunday 1st July, the Rainbow Room International team styled the hair of band members from Fatherson, British singer, Tom Grennan, The Magic Gang, Gang of Youths, as well as the lead guitarist from Wolf Alice and Liam Gallagher’s tour manager who also came along to the pop-up salon to have his hair tidied up. This first weekend saw male artists get a number of short, choppy cuts and cropped graduated cuts, and female artists opting for different braided hair looks.

Friday 6th July and Sunday 8th July

Friday 6th July and Sunday 8th July were another two fantastic days at TRNSMT Festival with the Rainbow Room International team styling band members from The Temperance Movement, Alabama 3 and La Fontaines. Many of the artists requested haircut tidy ups with the Alabama 3 band members looking for their hair to be taken in shorter at the sides with emphasis on their longer hair at the top. Band member, Darren, from La Fontaines got a scissor over comb with a short fade and guitarist, Matt, from The Temperance movement had his hair chipped into a bit before it being finished off with some Schwarzkopf Professional Osis+ Session Label Salt Spray and Schwarzkopf Proefssional Osis+ Whipped Wax.

The weekend had a very chilled out and relaxed vibe but by the time the headliners took to the stage, the atmosphere was electric. The team had the pleasure of styling the hair of the stars and were able to meet some big names, including the incredible Brian May from Queen.

The salon was incredibly popular by the artists and their management teams and many artists were delighted to be able to get their hair looking its best before going on stage. Both weekends at TRNSMT were fantastic and we are looking forward to hopefully being able to style the stars at the event again next year.
