Joshua Galvin @ Central Training were thrilled to deliver two showcases at World Skills London 2011 after competing against hundreds of universities, colleges and training providers for the Hair & Beauty feature stage performance.

Joshua Galvin @ Central Training were among 30 proud showcase exhibitors chosen for this year’s World Skills London event, which attracted over 150,000 visitors over the four days from across the UK.

Martin Kolton, Chairman at Central Training Group said,

We were so proud to be chosen to showcase our hairdressing expertise on the hair & beauty feature stage.  It was a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet hairdressing apprentices their own age delivering a hairdressing show to a live audience.  We hoped it encouraged other young people to get involved in a vocational training course which sets them up with skills for life.

The artistic teams from Big Yin and Sanrizz accompanied Joshua Galvin @ Central Training on the performance stage by delivering hair and barbering demos to hundreds of visitors causing a buzz of excitement.  The excitement didn’t end there either; Joshua Galvin @ Central team offered a variety of hairdressing services to visitors at their stand.

Martin continued,

We decided to offer FREE haircuts, styling and Balmain hair extensions to attract more visitors to the stand... and it worked! Our Master Barber, Sheriff Mehmet, was overwhelmed with clients - four per hour!

Hob apprentices also joined the Joshua Galvin @ Central team, offering hair demos and tips to the audience.

One person really stood out over the four-day event - Joshua Galvin @ Central’s apprentice, Tia Davis. She completed her fast track hairdressing apprenticeship with the academy at the beginning of the year and has now enrolled onto the barbering apprenticeship, looking to complete early next year.

Claire Ensor of Joshua Galvin Academy commented,

We know we’ll see great things from this young lady!  Tia is a promising young hairdresser: she’s dedicated, hardworking and passionate about hairdressing.  Tia volunteered her time at the event with our hairdressing tutors, and the visitors loved her - she’s a complete natural!
