YAT and ProtŽgŽ with Kim Rance

Share

The Schwarzkopf Professional Young Artistic Team and the Clynol Protégé team were treated to a workshop with Kim Rance on Monday 27th of July at the ASK Academy in London where they took creativity to a whole new level.

Inspired by Kim’s unique collection, Atargatis, the workshop was based around exploring the possibilities of styling hair with more than just products and tools. Working with wigs made from rope and straw and demonstrating on live models, Kim taught the two teams of hairdressing hopefuls the technique of basket weaving with copper wire and shared the secrets to her exceptional creativity and style. The afternoon was spent practising rope braiding and waterfall plaits with the teams, teaching them skills to take back to the salon floor.

Kim Rance is a London based hairstylist, famous for her work with brands such as Batiste and Very.com. Her expertise lies in editorial and backstage work at prestigious shows at London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks with designers such as Balmain, Chanel, Fendi and Vivienne Westwood. YAT Team member Grace Blackburn from Barrie Stephen Hair in Leicester says,

I was inspired from the start! It was interesting to see that hairdressing doesn’t have to just be about hair. She’s so creative and her wigs were perfect- it was clear to see that she has a lot of patience. She was lovely to learn from and was excited about her own work which gave the workshop such a lovely feel.
