With 2020 being a bit of a unique year, keeping track of the days and months has almost been non-existent, so it is crazy to think that we are fast approaching autumn!

With barely enough time to enjoy your summer blonde or pastel colours, it will soon be time for a different style and feel as autumn/winter approaches. To get their take on the coming seasons and to see what will be big in the world of styling and colour, we caught up with International Artistic Directors at Rainbow Room International, Suzie McGill and Dylan Brittain.

2020 Autumn/Winter Hair Trends

Contrast & Two-Tone

Colour contrasting and two-tone hair has started to become more popular and this will progress as we head into autumn, with clients looking to have a drastic contrast in their hair with lighter face framing pieces. This is a great look for brunettes, giving them a quirky update for the season. Bold and bright colours can also be incorporated into this look for a fun and funky feel.

Ice & Silver

Ice and silver tones will also make a comeback for the season, but these will have a smoky yet soft tone that will flatter most skin tones. These are great shades for blondes who want to give their hair an update for the winter and look great with a subtle darker root.

Effortless & Natural

Lived in hair will be one of the biggest hairstyling and cutting trends for the season, with the shag making a comeback and clients looking to wear their hair more effortless and natural, embracing their hair’s texture or enhancing their hair with messy waves and curls.

Solid & Sleek

Solid haircuts such as bobs that look incredibly sleek will also be on trend, and they look particularly great when paired with a strong fringe for a great structured look. The glass hair trend where hair looks incredibly shiny remains on trend for the season and works particularly well with these strong bobs and blunt one length cuts for a statement finish.
