Beard Dandruff

Share

The skin beneath your impressive facial hair can often be malnourished and in need of some attention in the form of moisture. This dry skin can often lead to flaking, causing dreaded beard dandruff.

It can often be easy to forget to pay the skin underneath your beard some much needed TLC, but a few small adjustments to your regular skincare regimen will help to banish dandruff while strengthening the skin to prevent further flakes.

Exfoliate

Using a beard brush – try Captain Fawcett’s Wild Boar Bristle Brush – brush the beard to exfoliate the skin underneath. Do this before cleansing and washing so that it brings any dry skin flakes to the surface ready to be dealt with.

Cleanse

Once the brush has lifted all the flakes, use a cleanser that contains lactic acid to help dissolve any dead skin from the upper layer of the dermis. Try Dermalogica’s Skin Resurfacing Cleanser.

Oil

Beard oil, such as Captain Fawcett’s Private Stock, will help to soften your skin and facial hair. A few pumps should be ideal to cover both your face and beard – comb it through to distribute the oil evenly.

These simple steps should be all that’s needed to keep beard dandruff at bay.
