Colour for spring/summer 2011

Share

Following the spring/summer 2011 catwalk collections, colour was at the forefront of the fashion favourites. Expressing charming and luxurious shades, these have now not only made their way to the high street, but are the inspiration for the 2010 British Colour Technician of the Year, Christel Lundqvist of HOB Salons.

For spring/summer 2011, Christel predicts that colour will be seeing a layered effect between depths and tones this season to create a beautiful colour result. From a seamless, blended palette through to a stronger statement look, spring/summer 2011 will be capturing poetic glam as seen on the catwalk, taking inspiration from the seventies.

The blonde palette will see a layered effect with colour ranging from a seamless, beautiful blonde palette through to an all-over rich statement look. As seen on Alberta Ferretti’s spring/summer 2011catwalk collection, hues such as antique gold, rose gold, liquid metallic, almond blonde and vintage white will be used, whilst the brunette palette seeks inspiration from the Hermès collection, seeing rich saturation and earthy shades with primal wood, metallic bronze, mahogany leather, warm sand and truffle brown.

Delivering a strong, feminine and tailored look is the black palette this season, showcased throughout Balenciaga’s collection, demonstrating all over, dark colour with accents of lighter panels with hues such as ink black, oil black, pewter pearl and blue oyster. The red palette will be opting for a saturated and rich effect as showcased on Marc Jacob’s spring/summer 2011 catwalk with shades such as venetian red, hibiscus red, amber, poppy peach, orange sorbet and heirloom rose making an appearance.
