DIOR SS21 X GHD

Share

Yesterday afternoon in Paris, Dior presented their Spring/Summer 2021 collection to a socially distanced audience.

Dramatic stained-glass windows towered above the catwalk space and a female choir sang as the collection was revealed. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s ethereal, artisanal-focused design approach was evident. The collection featured dramatic sheer gowns, bohemian tapestry prints, swinging necklaces, intricate embroidery, and knotted headbands on top of “very undone and easy hair” by Guido Palau for ghd.

Home Made Braids

Maria Grazia Chiuri, the designer, talked about how women are at home a lot more now and doing their own hair, so we wanted to create something that women can easily do themselves. The look is a simple braided updo which is a little bit home done; it is very undone and easy.

What’s key to this look is the texture of the hair and creating a natural smooth texture before braiding, by blow-drying the hair. No styling products are needed. The look has a slight naivety to it; it’s very soft and pretty, with loose pieces falling out and a very soft, slightly messed up hairline - Guido

What’s very key to this look is making sure the texture of the hair is perfect, so a good blow-dry with the ghd helios hairdryer is essential. Styling products are not needed as this look is soft, ethereal, and slightly undone.

Using the ghd helios hairdryer, smoothly blow-dry the hair with a large bristle brush, to get a natural straight texture. Create a centre parting when blow-drying. Put the hair into two low bunches and then braid the bunches before twisting them together at the back. Soften up the hairline using fingers so that it is a bit messy.

Add a head scarf or headband as the finishing touch; Dior featured lots of hair accessories which are great fun.
