Last night saw the 73rd Golden Globes Award Ceremony take place at The Beverley Hilton in Beverley Hills, California, and ghd were behind the scenes waving their magic styling tools to get the A-listers red carpet ready.
Robert Vetica for ghd North America worked on the beautiful Cate Blanchett to create a look that was both polished and laidback. Robert says,
I wanted to create a look with undone glamour that remained modern and trendy. I first used Phillip Kingsley’s Maximiser Spray to give the hair added shine and bounce before beginning to dry with the ghd air™ hairdryer and brushing with the ghd paddle brush.
I then separated her hair into three sections and finished drying with the ghd ceramic vented radial brush size 2 to create volume. Then I smoothed her hair with the new ghd white platinum™ styler and created a deep side part before braiding a section all the way around the back of her head, leaving one section of her hair down. Once I finished the braid, I began pinning back pieces to create a loose style.
Paul Norton for ghd North America created a vintage glamour inspired look on Gina Rodriguez. He says,
I wanted her hair to have a classic, yet retro feeling to match her 50’s-style gown, so I prepped her hair with Joico Heat Set and used the ghd air™ hairdryer and ghd ceramic vented radial brush size 3. To round the ends under, I left each section around the brush for several seconds after and then removed the heat.
I added volume to the roots, and starting in the middle, I smoothed out her hair using ghd’s white platinum styler. Lastly, I curled the ends using ghd’s curve™ soft curl iron, ensuring no hair was left un-waved before using my fingers to comb through and set the look with Joico Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray.
Kate Hudson was styled by ghd’s Brand Ambassador for North America, David Babaii. David kept Kate’s look in keeping with her personal style and trademark look. David says,
I was inspired by a few 70’s and 80’s films to give Kate a fresh and fabulous look that paired well with her boho chic style.
I first dried Kate’s hair using the ghd air™ hairdryer and ghd ceramic vented radial brush size 3 to create texture and movement. I then used the new ghd white platinum™ styler, which has rounded edges to create perfect waves and subtle bends throughout the hair. To finish, I ran my fingers through her hair to separate strands for an effortless look.
