ghd were on-hand at the Academy Awards to create show stopping looks for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Hailey Baldwin...

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Hair: Celebrity Hairstylist Christian Wood

We were inspired by her gorgeous, ethereal gown to keep her hair looking chic but simple, and so a super elegant knot with a deep side parting would truly compliment the dress. The ghd Gold Professional Styler and Wella Professionals EIMI Glam Mist are the best for removing any kinks around the hairline for a flawless polished up-do

Tips and Technique:
  1. Start by applying Wella Professionals Luminous Light Reflective Oil on dry hair through the mid-lengths and ends, and blow-dry the hair smooth with a ghd air® hairdryer (£99) and ghd natural bristle radial brush in size 3 (£20).
  2. Next, take a pin tail comb and add a deep side parting.
  3. Using a ghd curve® soft curl tong (£120), apply a gentle bend to the hair, this makes it easier to pull back hair and twist into a knot.
  4. Using a ghd gold® professional styler (£139) remove any kinks around the hairline and parting for a super smooth, shiny end result.
  5. Mist the hair with Wella Professional Stay Firm Hairspray, and using a Mason and Pearson brush, brush the hair into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic.
  6. Twist the ponytail into a coil shape and secure with Matt pins for extra hold.
  7. Spray the entire head with Wella Professional EIMI Glam Mist and using a tooth brush gently glide over the hair to smooth out any kinks, reduce flyaways and add extra shine.
  8. To finish, mist the entire head with Wella Professional EIMI Stay Firm hairspray and use fingertips to smooth out any flyaways.
  9. Release the sectioned bangs and using the ghd air® hairdryer (£99) on low, gently finger dry into place to create a relaxed, loose looking bang.
  10. Slightly pull at the crown area to create volume and wispy texture.
  11. Finish the look by spritzing Wella Professional EIMI Stay Firm for long lasting volume and staying power.

Hailey Baldwin

Hair: ghd Brand Ambassador and Celebrity Hairstylist, Justine Marjan

Hailey wanted something beautiful and feminine that was pulled off the face to compliment the lines of the dress. We originally were going to do a long version of the look, but after she had the dress on we realised short would be better suited for the finished look so we cut it blunt and fluffy!

Tips and Technique:
  1. Prep damp hair with a wave spray and heat protect spray then blow-dry with the ghd air® Hairdryer (£99).
  2. Attach Hidden Crown Hair Clip-In Extensions then give the hair a blunt haircut for lots of fullness.
  3. Use the ghd gold® professional styler to add a bend to the top half of the hair then spray with a Dry Texture spray. Gather the hair into a half-up ponytail using the fingers.
  4. Spray a texturizing hairspray and brush through the ends, then use the ghd curve® soft curl tong (£120) to add a bend and texture throughout hair.
  5. Lift hair up and back-brush with a Mason Pearson brush for added fullness, then finish with another spritz of strong hold hairspray.
